According to reports, former Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal has raised roughly $30 million for a startup focused on artificial intelligence. The Information, the original source of the information, stated that Khosla Ventures spearheaded the financing of Agrawal’s business. First Round Capital and Index Ventures, two venture capital firms, were also involved. This startup is “building software for developers of large language models, which were popularised by OpenAI’s ChatGPT, and customers of those LLMs [Large language models],” according to The Information, even though neither the product’s specifications nor the startup’s name have been made public.
Since his removal in 2022—shortly after Elon Musk paid $44 billion to acquire the business that is now known as X—Agrawal has maintained a low profile. On November 29, 2021, the Indian American took over as CEO from Jack Dorsey, the founder. Dorsey had been an engineer for a long time at the company, having worked his way up to chief technology officer.
In October of last year, Agrawal, CFO Ned Segal, and policy lead Vijaya Gadde received orders for Musk to pay them $1.1 million in legal fees. The three had filed a lawsuit against the business in April, saying that it was not paying their legal fees.
Agrawal, an Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay alumnus, worked for Twitter for ten years prior to being named CEO. In 2005, he relocated to the United States, where he enrolled at Stanford University to work towards a computer science doctorate. joined a research group focused on databases, which let computers store and mine large amounts of digital information, The New York Times said in his profile.
After earning his doctorate in computer science from Stanford University, he started working at Twitter in October 2011 as a Distinguished Software Engineer. His early research on using AI to make tweets on Twitter timelines more relevant was widely acknowledged. In 2017, he was named CTO. Adam Messinger, who departed the company in December 2016, was succeeded by him.
He interned for Microsoft, Yahoo!, and AT&T Labs as a research intern while attending Stanford. He finished his education in Mumbai at the Atomic Energy Central School.
Vineeta Agarwal, a physician and scientist, is his wife. Following their engagement in October 2015, the couple married in January 2016. Ansh, their son, was born in November 2018.
